Francine
Townsend
Mar 10, 1944 — Jan 22, 2022
Richmond
On Saturday, January 22, 2022, Our Beloved Mother Francine Townsend quietly entered into eternal rest at Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, MD. Francine was born on March 10, 1944, in Blythewood, SC to the late Lillie Mae Geiger-Stuckey who later married the late Claude Stuckey (Step-Father).
While living in SC she resided and grew up with Betty Martin, Dorothy Townsend, and the late Frances Geiger-Robinson. These aunts and nieces called themselves "Sisters." Francine was educated in the Richmond, County Public school system until leaving for Brooklyn, NY at the age of 12 years old. She attended White Law Reid Junior High and Girls High School.
Francine met and married the late Cleveland Townsend, Jr. From this union produced Shunda Townsend Francis and Towanda Townsend. The union also introduced the blending of Adela and David Thomas who proceeded her, Theresa Townsend-Edwards and Jeremiah Edwards, Joseph Epps, and Tyree Epps.
With loving arms, Francine opened her heart and home to her adopted sons Ronald Moore, Terrence and Atlantis Moore, Donald and Kimberly Shepherd, and Goddaughter Charlene Newton who proceeded her.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at Holy Cross First Born Church of the Living God, presiding under Bishop and Missionary Johnson. Francine was employed for the Owners Maintenance Corporation (OMC), where she worked in the facility maintenance industry where she retired after 40 years of excellent service. Francine was known around her office as a great co-worker and loving friend.
She is the proud Grandmother of Chaylah Francis, Ocean Parker, Sean & Altamese Townsend, David Thomas who proceeded her, Monique Thomas, Anthony Thomas, Cadacia & Robert Green, Lynniaqua Edwards, Ronald, Donald and Terrence's children.. She is the proud Spiritual Mother to Tykeiah Knight and the Spiritual Grandmother to Tiffany Rogers.
Motherly love is one of the many characteristics to which to describe Francine Townsend. She loved to spend time with her children. She loved to spend time with her sisters, talking for long hours, coloring, and playing games on their phones. She loved playing video games, watching sports with her grandson, watching YouTube cooking shows, playing Bible trivia, participating in Bible studies, and traveling with her children.
Francine was a Prayer Warrior. She held on to her strong faith in God, and it was that faith that help her ease on into her transition to eternal peace.
Francine leaves to grieve for her, her daughters, sons, grandchildren, sisters, sisters-in-law: Dorothy Gordon, Elizabeth Graham, and Essie Derick. Her Godson Charles Newton, Goddaughters Ciera Brown and Jo'Lisa Bennett, and a host of grands, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
May Francine rest in peace knowing that God has her now, absolving her of all the burdens, cares, and ills of this world.
