Obituary

Gerald Lewis Hawkins was born on March 15, 1950 in Lenoir County, North Carolina. He passed away on May 8th, 2024 at New York Presbyterian Hospital in Flushing, New York.

Gerald graduated from Frink High School in La Grange, North Carolina in 1968. He was active in the Marching Band. He loved numbers, I suppose that is why he and our niece; Fay would collect the tags from the clothing when our mother went shopping. Gerald was drafted in the United States Army soon after high school. Gerald's love for numbers lead to a career in accounting. He became Senior Accountant at Lambsdell and worked there for twenty plus years.

Gerald is survived by: his daughter; Tabitha Ja'nae Hawkins, a grandson; Te'Velle Hawkins, a granddaughter; Tay'Anna Hawkins of New York, one brother; Dempsey Hawkins of Shreveport, LA, two sisters; Nancy Paul and Holland Hawkins both of Kinston, North Carolina, a devoted friend; Deborah Mc Commons of Queens, New York and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sisters-in-law. Along with the above names my brother loved the "J's": Justin Jr., Justine and Jade and always talked about them.
