Obituary

Jerry Vincent Greenidge, a dear father, grandfather, brother and friend, was born in the Caribbean Island of Trinidad on October 26, 1947 to the late Archibald and Iva Greenidge.

Jerry, along with his mother and sister, migrated to the U.S. in July of 1951to join his father in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Jerry started kindergarten in 1952 at Saint Gregory The Great School where he obtained his spiritual and educational foundation from the Sisters of Mercy.

Jerry was a free spirit in nature. He was musically inclined and became quite gifted at the piano after receiving formal lessons and joining Saint Gregory's choir.  His interest in sports led him to win several medals in the yearly C.Y.O. competition at Saint Gregory's. After completing his primary education, he went on to graduate from Wingate H.S. in 1967.

Jerry's passion for auto mechanics brought him skills in automobiles, mainly Corvettes and Harley Davidsons.  Entrepreneur that he was, led him to his business in woman's fine clothing and shoes, as he managed the Suit Salon Business in Brooklyn, N.Y.

In 1969, Jerry married the love of his life, Jacqueline Hill. Their daughter, Safrone Antoinette, was born on July 16, 1969. Jerry and Jackie raised Safrone lovingly in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Jerry, in his own way, was resourceful and helpful.  On Tuesday, April 9th, 2024, Jerry left his earthly life.  He will be remembered for his broad brimmed hats and pleasant smile. His memory will be forever cherished by his daughter Safrone, and her mother Jackie Hill, his grandchildren Jordan and Jada Presley, his sisters Joan and Lisa, his brother Grantley, his niece Jennifer Wright and nephews Montell Jr. and Elijah Oliver and their father Montell Sr., his Uncle Mervyn Jones, and his cousins Dale Blenman and Lurline Elzins. Besides his family, Jerry's life was filled with a host of many friends.
