Joyce Ann
Buchanan
Jan 8, 1945 — Feb 6, 2022
Brooklyn
Joyce-ann Buchanan, AKA Party Diva, blessed us with her presents to this place we call earth and began her path of life on January 8th, 1945, Born to the late Luther Miles and Mary Willie Buchanan in Clio, South Carolina, she capitalized off her sign as a capricorn, and was strong as anyone I know. She was the baby of four children ( Mary Thomas, Late Lillie Mae Buchanan, Gertrude Smith)
Joyce aka "Party Diva" was not your ordinary kind of woman. She electrified every room she stepped in, and made her presence known. A Little back story of her early life; Joyce moved to Bedstuy, Brooklyn from Clio, South Carolina in 1958 at the age of thirteen. She fell in love with the city, and tried to find a balance between her artistic side and education. She finished highschool up to the 10th grade, and began to pursue her dream in modeling and dancing. She attended Pope studios on Fulton street, where her dancing talent was discovered. She took control of the dance floor in clubs and bars, where she got her name "Diva". In her early adult life she was a mother of three and worked at a bar. Joyce was a well respected barmaid and people love being served by her. She bought a loving and fun energy that kept her clientele growing. She was always the life of the party, and had a voice that echoed through the room. She loved to travel and couldn't tell her to slow down. She been to Las Vegas, North & South Carolina, Florida. One place she always wanted to go before her passing was New Orleans. She loved her grandkids to the ground they walked on,and talked very highly of them. One thing you don't do is mess with her "Grandkids". She was well known and loved at 130 lefferts place, where she spread her love and touched the hearts of all. Joyce spoke to everyone and didn't judge anyone but kept it real. She loved partying out at the Post with her friends across town, and always attending her late friend thelma's club, where she loved dearly. She made us laugh and cry with her witty storytelling and keeping up beat with what was going on in her surroundings. If you needed advice or a place to stay she had open arms. You couldn't control her in any way , and was going to live her life the way she wanted. She gave us the courage to live our life out in happiness and laughter, and to enjoy every moment from the time we wake til we sleep. There will never be another woman who can fill her shoes and make the impact Joyce didnt on all of our lives. She will be missed dearly and her legacy lives on.
