Kelvin J. Hopkins, AKA "Toast" was born on October 14, 1959, to the late Thelma and Aaron Hopkins in Brooklyn, New York. Kelvin was the youngest of ten children.

Kelvin was raised in Brooklyn, New York in Farragut Housing but he moved to the Bronx in his later years. Kelvin was educated in the New York City Public School System. Kelvin was a jack of all trades so he worked various jobs, but music and his family was his life. In the mid 80's Kelvin met the love of his life; Cynthia and shortly after they were married and from this union they were blessed with two children; Isaiah and Nikki.

Kelvin was a funny, loving, well liked and caring man. He was well known for his basketball skills, especially his left-hand jumper. Kelvin was also a lover of music. He loved HipHop, Gospel and R&B, he was even a member of his own rap groups; Kenny Green and the Awesome 4 MC's and Kenny Green and the Fantastic 4MC's.  Kelvin was known as High Power Toast or HPT to his friends.

Kelvin was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma and Aaron Hopkins, his brothers, John, William, Jesse and Robert, and his sisters, Mary and Carol, and his grandson; Liam.

Kelvin leaves to cherish his loving memories; his loving wife of 40 years; Cynthia Hopkins, one son; Isaiah Hopkins, one daughter; Nikki Hopkins,  his twin brother; Kenneth Hopkins, and two sisters; Beverly and Debra, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
