Linda Gray
Heggins
Mar 11, 1942 — Feb 19, 2022
Brooklyn
Linda Gray Heggins' sun rise was on March 11 th 1942 to Charles and Juanita Heggins. She was raised in her hometown of Raleigh, NC with her four siblings Robert, Charles, Jesse Faye, and Earl Heggins.
By the age of fourteen, Juanita and her youngest children, Linda and Earl relocated to Brooklyn where she attended Bushwick High School. She would spend her free time connecting with her older brother and sister, Charles and Jesse Faye and other family members who had been in Brooklyn for some time.
Early in her 20's, she gave birth Karen Heggins and worked different jobs to support herself and her daughter. Bedstuy and East New York were some of the places that she would call home until she moved to 979 Hancock St in Bushwick for the rest of her years. By the mid 70's she would give birth to a son, Victor Ramos.
Linda was full of life, joy, and love. She was classy and had a great sense of humor. She often spent time with family and friends, who she treated like family. Her heart was big and she was always willing to help. In the early 90's she would offer herself in a most unselfish way and register as a foster care provider, where she would help many families that experienced hardships stemming from drug addiction that destroyed black families in the 80's and 90's. Her youngest boy and girl, Richard Heggins, born 1994 followed by Princess Heggins, in 1998 completed the Heggins family.
Strength, courage, and generosity barely begin to describe Linda's character. In late 2018 she was diagnosed with cancer, but never gave up fighting because that's who she was. Her sun was set February 19 th 2022, but her energy and love will forever be felt by those that knew her. She is survived by her partner Ronald Ellison, sons Victor Ramos and Richard Heggins, daughter Princess Heggins, grandchildren Laquisha Heggins, Claddagha Campbell, Victor Ramos Jr, Niia Ramos, Kal-El Ramos, Viktorya Ramos, sister Jesse Faye Heggins, brother Earl Heggins, nieces Gwen and Renee Mott and Janice Heggins, and nephew Darryl Mott.
