Mother Elise Rose Witherspoon was born on August 26, 1931 in Sumpter, South Carolina to the late Richard Holiday and Alma Singleton. Our Queen transitioned into the arms of our Lord on December 30, 2021.

Elsie and the late William Witherspoon II welcomed ten children in their union as husband and wife; eight daughters and two sons.

Mother Witherspoon is preceded in death by five daughters; Juanita Billips Grant, Alma Witherspoon, Susan Witherspoon, Vanessa Evans, Doris Murdaugh, two sons; William Witherspoon III and Tony Witherspoon, three grandchildren; Michael Murdaugh, Kendell Witherspoon and Loretta Witherspoon, five sons-in-law; Richard Billips, Dennis Grant, Irvin Murdaugh, Alexander Evans and Seavy Alexander.

Mother Witherspoon leaves three daughters; Geraldine Nimmons (Otis), Lisa Asbury (Raymond) and Shirley Alexander, 43  grandchildren, 148 great grandchildren, 48 great great grandchildren, four great great great grandchildren, two nieces; Louida Singleton and Janice Fultz, two nephews; Terry Singleton and Larry Singleton and a host of cousins and friends.

Mother Elise Rose Witherspoon became the mother of the church in October of 2019. Before that she was a faithful usher for over 35 years.
