Norma "Vivi" Gafur, 77, passed away peacefully at her home in New York City on December 14, 2021.

Vivi was born February 21, 1944, in Guyana, South America.  It is there that she got her education, excelled in school and earned the opportunity to move to the United States for growth and opportunity.  She moved to New York City in the late 1960s where she met the love of her life, Abdool "Wally" Gafur.  Together they welcomed their son Mark in 1971.  Vivi began  her career as a Federal Medicaid agent and retired after thirty-five years of dedicated service.  She was dedicated in work and in life to helping those in need.  She was a  kind and generous person who loved with all of her heart.  She was spiritual and loved the Lord.  Vivi enjoyed and embraced life.  She built strong bonds with her family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors.

Vivi is survived by her son Mark, her grandsons Spenser, Quinn and Greyson, her sisters Yvonne, Patsy and Ann.   Also, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Vivi was predeceased by her beloved husband Wally as well as her brothers Edward and Patrick.

Vivi will be dearly missed, always loved, and never forgotten.
