Ophra was born on November 28, 1939 to Mr. & Mrs. Henry and Annie Lewis, both deceased in Wetumpka, Alabama.  Ophra was the seventh child born to Mr. & Mrs. Lewis.   She joined Love and Peace Baptist Church when she was a young child.   Ophra graduated from W.B. Doby High School at 17 years old.  After finishing school, she moved to Brooklyn, New York to further her career in nursing.

Ophra got married to Jackie Blyge and out of this marriage came two sons, Dennis Blyge who proceeded her in death in 1985.  She leaves to mourn her one son, Darryl Blyge and two granddaughters, Talaysha Lewis and Tahara Lewis both of New York.  She was also proceeded in death by brothers James, Rodgers, Ocie, John and Bernard Lewis, and sisters Fannie Harris and Bertha Lewis.   She also leaves to mourn one sister, Anne Hintzen of Brooklyn, NY and one brother, Clarence (Jackie) Lewis of Willingboro, NJ and a host of nieces and nephews.

Her body will be laid to rest at the Lewis and Foster Family cemetery in Wetumpka, Alabama.
