Obituary

Thelma Ida Mayers nee Carter affectionately known as "GRANNY", was born in St. Thomas Barbados to Isaiah and Martha Long.    She was the second of three children including Roy and Ulric Carter.  Thelma attended Grace Hill Primary School, after which she was sent to learn needlework which she hated.  She preferred shop keeping which she did for many years in Hillaby St. Andrew.  Thelma moved to St. Michael and went to work as a domestic for the Hunte family. Thelma accepted the Lord and became a member of People's Cathedral after attending a "miracle service" on a Thursday.  Thelma Mayers was married to Cecil Mayers, her second husband who preceded her in death.

She has nine children - Victor, Michael, Marcelle, Marlene, Dalvey , Jewel, Oswyn, Trevor, and Anne-Marie.

Thelma Migrated to the United Stated and joined Ebenezer Pentecostal Church of God . Where she served until the death of Pastor Harper, and subsequently relocation of the congregation .   Sister Mayers then Joined the congregation at Lafayette Church of God in Christ .

Thelma believed in family, she was always to the point with her sharp words, but she was quick to give you her last penny.

Thelma was truly blessed.  She had 23 grandchildren - Matthew, Zachary, Andre, Annah, Andros, Benjamin, Joshua, Ricky, Terry, Sharon, Kathy-Ann, Omar, Suzanne, Michael JR., Devin, Ronnie, Deon, Damien, Dario,  Danielle, Keshia, Shavonne, Rico, and her many great-grandchildren, Nieces - Ann, Jutor, Rosie, Mavis, Nephews- Tyrone, Ricky, David and Jeffrey.

May she rest in Peace and rise in glory.
