Tony
Reed
Aug 15, 1960 — Jul 20, 2024
Brooklyn
On August 15, 1960, Tony W. Reed was born to the late Wilbur Reed and Delores Reed. Tony was raised in the Farragut Projects, where he forged lifelong friendships and built a legacy of camaraderie and support. He attended P.S. 307 for elementary school, Sands Junior High School, and graduated from Alexander Hamilton High School. These formative years helped shape the compassionate and determined individual he became.
Tony worked in various jobs throughout his career, but his last professional role was with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). His dedication to service and reliability earned him the respect of his colleagues and the community. Outside of work, he found great joy in fishing during his days off and often shared stories of his most impressive catches. His enthusiasm for cars and motorcycles was evident, as he spent many hours exploring and appreciating their details. Additionally, Tony was a dedicated collector of cologne and watches, showcasing a discerning eye for quality and detail.
Tony is survived by his beloved son, Tony, and daughter, Traneesha, as well as his brother, Bryant Reed. He was a proud uncle to three nieces and one nephew, and a doting great-uncle to two great-nieces and three great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Delores Reed, and his sister, Dianna Reed.
As we honor Tony's memory, let us reflect on the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: "The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be." Tony chose to be a loving father, a loyal friend, and a pillar of strength in his community. His legacy of kindness, passion, and dedication will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, from 4 PM to 7 PM, followed by a service from 7 PM to 8 PM at Dekalb Funeral Services, located at 491 Dekalb Ave, Brooklyn.
Tony will be deeply missed but will forever remain in our hearts.
