Willie Mae Mathis earned her wings on Wednesday January 12, 2022, God whispered in her ear and called her home.

She was born on June 18 ^th , 1930, in Norfolk Virginia to Hannah Pridgen and Walter Rhodes and she was the 4 ^th oldest child out of 8 siblings. Her family moved from Norfolk Virginia to Brooklyn NY when she was 4 years old. She lived with her family at 508 Lexington Ave. Willie Mae was educated in the NY school system where she attended Maxwell H.S.

She was a mother of 8 children and she worked at a wig factory in Brooklyn, where she met and married her beloved husband Walter Mathis in September 1969. From their union they had a daughter, Deidre Mathis.

Willie Mae was proceeded in death by her husband Walter Mathis of 52 years, her 4 children Ronald Rhodes, Janie Rhodes, Lavion Rhodes, and Stevie Rhodes. Her mother and father, her 6 siblings; Walter Rhodes Mary Lee Bullets, Marjorie Williams, Lena Ewing, Milton Rhodes and Wilburt Rhodes.

Willie Mae leaves behind to cherish her loving memories: her 5 children, Jeremiah Jackson and Mildred Rhodes from Brooklyn NY, Carolyn Rhodes -Luke and Deidre Mathis from Frisco Texas, Anthony Rhodes from Charlotte NC and her beloved sister, Mildred Rhodes from Brooklyn NY. 30 grands, 28 great grands, great great grands, sister in law Ruby Rhodes from Brooklyn NY, her daughter in law Joyce Rhodes from Atlanta Georgia, son in law Steve Luke from Frisco Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
